History

GeoCon Surveying, Inc., formerly known as Georgia Construction Services, was founded by Henry T. McBrayer, in March 1991, in order to offer a full and wide variety of surveying and construction layout services in the North Georgia and Eastern Alabama area. 

The primary objectives for this company are to provide land surveys, topographic surveys, utility surveys, subdivision design and planning, construction staking, as-built surveys, estimating, and project management for landowners, developers, engineers, and contractors. 

The company covers all aspects of project development from design to completion. We have enjoyed a good working relationship with engineers and contractors alike. We have strived to incorporate the latest technologies available for all aspects of our work. All surveying instruments are either, GPS, robotic or total station with data collectors, and our computer software is matched for the data collectors. We have two different survey software programs that allow land surveying, construction layout projects and subdivision design to be efficient and practical through field to office automation.

Since 1991, GeoCon has provided construction layout services for over 2200 construction projects throughout the Southeastern United States. Project sizes range from 1 acre to 1000+ acre sites and include schools, hospitals, water and wastewater treatment facilities, power plants, landfills, solar farms, reservoirs, airports, military installations, commercial and industrial sites, highway construction, railyards, and residential subdivisions. It is estimated that GeoCon has provided more than 3600 boundary surveys, 1900 topographic surveys, provided land planning and design services on numerous subdivisions, supplied utility route surveys for project design, completed numerous ALTA surveys and provided expert witness testimony and depositions in several court cases involving boundary disputes and construction mediations.

In 1994, GeoCon was contracted to provide construction layout services for many of the 1996 Summer Olympic venues in Georgia, including the Wolf Creek Shooting Complex in Fulton County, Georgia, the Olympic Softball Facility in Columbus, Georgia, and Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta, Georgia.

GeoCon is currently a Georgia D.O.T. certified subcontractor and is certified to complete Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission erosion control plan design.

While GeoCon has primarily focused its efforts in Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi, to better serve our clients needs we have recently obtained survey licensure in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida.

GeoCon Surveying, Inc. is committed to the safety of its employees. All employees must pass a drug screen and are subject to random drug testing, as well as attend pre-employment safety orientation classes. All employees are eRailsafe certified allowing our survey teams to work safely within railroad right-of-ways throughout the Southeastern United States. Most employees have obtained 10 Hour OSHA Training Course in Construction Safety & Health, and several have obtained 40 OSHA Hazmat Training, allowing our surveyors to work sites that others cannot access.
